The word malocclusion is an all-encompassing term referring to any unevenness or discrepancy in your bite. Basically, there are three main classes of malocclusion, designated Class I, Class II, and Class III. These classifications indicate problems in the horizontal plane (front to back). Discrepancies can also occur in the vertical plane(coronal)(up and down) and the median plane(side to side).
