BEGINNING THE JOURNEY What to expect on the first visit: Dr. Thibault will do a thorough examination of the mouth, including a soft tissue examination, joint (TMJ) assessment and airway evaluation. Teeth will be charted, medical/dental history evaluated and the malocclusion assessed. You will be given a printed report about the findings and recommendations for observation and/or treatment. Your questions will be entertained and the findings will be discussed. If it is found that treatment is necessary, the following appointments will be arranged to continue the diagnostic investigation. What this means to you is that you will leave the office with a good understanding of what has been found and you will be better prepared to make an intelligent decision about your treatment. The Diagnostic Records: This information is necessary to arrive at a definitive diagnosis (what exactly is the problem?) and a plan for treatment. The studies include a paroramic x-ray, a lateral head x-ray, photos of the face and teeth, impresssions of the teeth and a registration of the bite. We utilize state of the art equipment and material for your safety and comfort. The Consultation: At this appointment, the findings will be explained to you in great detail using computerized projections and three-dimensional models. A plan for treatment will be outlined so that you know exactly what we intend to do for your problem. You will receive printed copies of the diagnosis, a risk-evaluation form and convenient payment plans to choose from. Your dentist will receive a detailed report on our findings so that s(he) will be well-informed about our plan. |
