Thomas J. Thibault, DMD is a board-eligible orthodontist with a practice limited to orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics since 1978.

Dr. Thibault was raised in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, the oldest of five children. In his teen years, he participated in cross-country, debate team and was a guitarist and vocalist for the school glee club.

He graduated cum laude from Assumption College, Worcester, MA in 1970 and was the president of the pre-med/pre-dental St. Luke Society in his senior year. He met his wife, Anzelma (Ann), just before entering dental school. They were married in 1973. He received his D.M.D. degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1974. During his last year at Tufts, Dr. Thibault served as an instructor in Dental Anatomy for foreign students.

Dr. Thibault served as a Captain in the United States Air Force and was assigned as a staff dentist at Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Michigan for two years, where he concentrated on restorative dentistry, periodontal surgery and third molar exodontia. He was accepted in the Graduate Orthodontic Program at Tufts University and completed his two year specialty training in 1978, receiving an advanced specialty Certificate in Orthodontics. He and his wife have four children; Dan (wife Katie), Mike, Val and Greg (wife Jen), and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and James.

Dr. Thibault is a member of the New London County Dental Society, the Connecticut State Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Connnecticut State Society of Orthodontists, The Northeast Society of Orthodontists and the American Association of Orthodontists. He has served as a committee member on the Council on Continuing Education for the Connecticut State Dental Association since 1982. This council has developed one of the premier continuing education programs for dentists in the country. Dr. Thibault was inducted into the Pierre Fauchard Academy as a Fellow in 2007. This international honorary dental organization recognizes outstanding dentists and celebrates their achievements. It seeks to support the highest ideals of dentistry throughout the world in both ethical and moral practice, through service to community, country and profession.

Dr. Thibault has been a member of the Niantic Rotary Club since 1978 and has served in leadership roles including board of directors, secretary, treasurer and was President in 1985. He is the coordinator for the Student of the Month Program, which recognizes ten high school students each year for their outstanding academic and service contributions to the community. He is the recipient of the Paul Harris Award, Rotary's highest award for recognition of community service.

In his spare time, Dr. Thibault enjoys being with his family, cooking, travel, computers (when they don't self-destruct) and home improvement projects.
